  • AMDC, Swinburne University of Technology, Hawthorn

WORKTECH Melbourne is a leading conference exploring how the future of work and the workplace is being shaped by the intersection of people, place, and technology. It is part of the leading global events series, WORKTECH.

Bringing together senior leaders, strategists, designers, technologists, and workplace professionals from across industries, WORKTECH Melbourne examines how organisations are rethinking work, space, culture, and digital infrastructure in response to rapid change.

The programme is designed for senior professionals responsible for workplace strategy, corporate real estate, facilities, HR, technology, architecture, and design.

Through a mix of keynote presentations, expert panels, and case studies, WORKTECH Melbourne provides a multi-disciplinary, insight-led forum to explore emerging trends — from workplace intelligence and employee experience to hybrid work, digital transformation, and the evolving role of the office.

Last Year at WORKTECH Melbourne

WORKTECH25 Melbourne brought together senior leaders from leading global institutions, including ANZ, National Australia Bank, BHP, Telstra, Medibank, Jetstar Group, Department of Transport & Planning and The University of Melbourne.

Discussions focused on the shifting role of the office in a hybrid world, the realities behind return-to-office mandates, the rise of workplace intelligence, and the intersection of AI, ESG and commercial performance. Sessions examined culture-led leadership, data-informed decision-making, emerging spatial models and the measurable impact of design on connection, autonomy and organisational resilience.

Delegates left with grounded, practical insight into aligning space, technology and strategy; approaching AI with confidence rather than caution; embedding ESG beyond rhetoric; and creating workplace environments that support performance, trust and long-term value.

Key Themes

The Performance Imperative: What the Office Must Prove in 2026

As expectations of the workplace continue to evolve, physical space is under pressure to demonstrate its value — not just as a place to work, but as infrastructure for organisational performance.

This theme explores how the next generation of workplaces can support productivity, well-being, connection, efficiency, and experience. It asks how buildings, services, and workplace strategies can work harder for people and organisations, and how global innovation is shaping new performance benchmarks.

Intelligence in Practice

AI, analytics, digital twins, and intelligent systems are rapidly changing how workplaces are planned, managed, and experienced. But the real challenge is no longer simply accessing the technology — it is knowing how to use it well.

This theme focuses on practical implementation: where AI can create value, how data can support better decisions, and what leaders need to prioritise as intelligent tools move from pilots and experiments into everyday workflows.

Evidence and Instinct

Organisations are collecting more workplace data than ever before, yet decisions are still often shaped by instinct, precedent, stakeholder pressure, or familiar design patterns. As evidence becomes more available, the question is whether it is genuinely improving outcomes — or simply reinforcing what organisations already do.

This theme examines how workplace leaders can bridge the gap between data, experience, and decision-making. It also explores how design can remain distinctive and purposeful in a market where benchmarks, procurement processes, and industry norms can drive convergence.

Designing for Difference

As AI and robotics reshape work, the human role in the workplace becomes more important, not less. The office is increasingly valued as a place for connection, culture, collaboration, learning, and shared experience.

This theme explores how organisations can design for human advantage in a post-hybrid environment — supporting teams that work together and apart, creating spaces that strengthen cohesion, and preparing for new forms of human–machine collaboration.

From Human Connection to Future Places

The workplace is becoming a more connected ecosystem — linking physical environment, digital infrastructure, organisational identity, employee experience, and long-term business performance.

This theme looks at how future-ready places are planned, modelled and brought to life, from digital twins and scenario planning to workplace environments that express brand, culture and ambition. It explores how organisations can create places that are not only functional but also adaptive, meaningful, and relevant to the people they are designed to support.

Mind blowing and eye opening. All around the world technology is changing and we need to not be left behind.
