Last Year at WORKTECH Melbourne

WORKTECH25 Melbourne brought together senior leaders from leading global institutions, including ANZ, National Australia Bank, BHP, Telstra, Medibank, Jetstar Group, Department of Transport & Planning and The University of Melbourne.

Discussions focused on the shifting role of the office in a hybrid world, the realities behind return-to-office mandates, the rise of workplace intelligence, and the intersection of AI, ESG and commercial performance. Sessions examined culture-led leadership, data-informed decision-making, emerging spatial models and the measurable impact of design on connection, autonomy and organisational resilience.

Delegates left with grounded, practical insight into aligning space, technology and strategy; approaching AI with confidence rather than caution; embedding ESG beyond rhetoric; and creating workplace environments that support performance, trust and long-term value.

Key Themes

The Post-Hybrid Reality

Hybrid is no longer a policy debate – it is the operating system of modern work. As flexibility becomes embedded, organisations must redesign leadership, accountability, team dynamics and spatial strategy for long-term performance.

This theme explores how Australian organisations are moving beyond experimentation toward clarity – refining governance, redefining presence and creating workplace models that are stable, scalable and culturally coherent.

Intelligence in Practice

AI and robotics are moving from pilot to platform. From workplace analytics and automation to physical AI operating within buildings, intelligent systems are reshaping how space is planned and managed.

This theme focuses on operational reality – data readiness, governance, integration and ethics – examining what it truly takes to embed intelligence across Australian workplaces at scale.

Designing for Difference

As global benchmarks, procurement frameworks and industry awards influence outcomes, are workplaces becoming increasingly alike? In a market shaped by competitive pressures and risk management, innovation requires intent.

This theme explores how organisations can navigate convergence strategically – differentiating where it matters, innovating with purpose and ensuring design reflects identity rather than imitation.

Place as Competitive Infrastructure

In a digital economy, physical space must justify its value. The workplace is no longer simply an asset – it is cultural, social and economic infrastructure.

This theme examines how occupiers, developers and partners collaborate to deliver environments that strengthen engagement, enhance brand, support wellbeing and generate long-term commercial performance.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Workplace Experience

The relationship between tenants, landlords, and developers is evolving to meet hybrid work demands. Speakers will share emerging strategies for creating shared, adaptable office spaces and fostering collaboration between stakeholders to drive employee engagement and enhance workplace experience.

Mind blowing and eye opening. All around the world technology is changing and we need to not be left behind.
