Key Themes

Day 1

The Learning Organisation

Sessions include

Future of Work: Learning is the Job
Kristi Riordan, Chief Operating Officer, Managing Director of International, WeWork’s Flatiron School

Industrial work, with its highly structured and repetitive jobs, has been declining for decades. Artificial intelligence threatens to automate out of existence those jobs that remain.  The future of work is in learning and creativity.  Successful enterprises, and successful workplaces, will be those that are designed to unleash human potential by recognizing the importance of connection to people, ideas, and learning experiences.

Day 1

Emotional Skills and the Future of Work
Sally McNamara, Business Program Director, the School of Life

Emotional intelligence or “EQ” is no longer a “nice to have” optional skillset. The flip side of the technology revolution is that human skills such as creativity, originality, initiative, critical thinking, persuasion and negotiation will actually grow in importance. Developing our emotional skills is a core part of improving our overall wellbeing at work and our ability to not just survive, but thrive. We know that emotional intelligence is important, but we’re not always quite sure what it really is. This is an introduction: exploring what it means, how it can make teams and organizations more creative, collaborative and productive and how we can develop our emotional skills on a daily basis (just as we may exercise daily).

Day 1

Designing High-Performance Workspaces
Dr. Christhina Candido, Senior Lecturer, The University of Sydney

While much has been done in quantifying the negative impacts of open-plan offices it is time to identify design solutions that actually perform well in order to protect the millions of workers now and in the future. This presentation will discuss key findings from Australian high-performance, open-plan offices case studies.

Day 1

Future of Workplace: End User Expert Panel Discussion
Ken Lynch, Head of Workplace, ANZ
Geoff Sloan, Global Head of CRE, Macquarie
Chairperson – Philip Ross, CEO, Cordless Group & UnWork

Our expert panel will discuss major trends that we predict will make an impact on work and the workplace in Asia. They will also share their thoughts and perspectives for the Corporate Office of the future.

Day 1

Augmented Work Report Launch

As developments in AI, automation, robotics, and machine learning create new scenarios for work and workplace, The WORKTECH Academy and Mirvac, will launch the Augmented Work Report which explores the parameters and features of augmented work. They will draw on five different types of human-machine interaction (assigned, supervised, coexistent, assistive and symbiotic) to suggest implications for commercial office property.
